Question: OIL LIGHT CAME ON

OIL LITE CAME ON, STARTED ENGINE LITE STAYED ON. TURNED OFF ENGINE, CHECKED AND LEVEL WAS JUST ABOVE ADD LINE. REPEATED ABOVE, STARTED ENGINE OIL LITE WENT OFF. PILOT DROVE AS USUAL. STILL MADE APPT WITH DEALER. DEALER REPORTS ENGINE MUST BE REPLACED. HE SAID MY FAULT FOR DRIVING EVEN THO OIL LITE NEVER CAME ON DURING TRIP TO DEALER. HELP PLEASE

    Is there other symptoms - like ticking valves or loud knocking - beside the oil pressure light?
    Was this the first time for the oil light being on?
    Did the dealer checked the oil pressure, compression or any other thing?
