Rookie

MY OIL LIGHT USED TO COME ON WHEN BRAKING SOMEONE SAID CHANGE THE OIL SENDING UNIT, SO THAT WAS CHANGED. NOW THE OIL LIGHT COMES ON GOING DIFFERENT SPEEDS BUT NOT WHEN SLOWING DOWN. WHAT COULD THIS BE.

Is the light for low oil level, or is it for low oil pressure?

Either way, you will want to check the validity of the light - a oil pressure test may be in order.

The first thing to do is check the oil level to see if its at the right mark

i would have to check as to which it is. its a red oil can with a drop. i have checked my oil and its level is good.
can i check the oil pressure or does that have to be done by a mechanic.
I HATE THESE IDIOT LIGHTS
I MISS THE GAUGES

Red oil can with a drop - that is oil pressure.

If you have a pressure gauge that will thread into the engine sending unit port, you can check the pressure yourself. Otherwise, visit a reputable shop that can help you. Check our Directory tool at the top of the screen for some shops near you. Try not to drive the truck though in the meantime, as you will cause damage if the pressure is truly low.
