Anyone else with oil leak? how common is it? My leak shorted out my starter ($200) for the lack of replacement of the $6 seal.

I am not aware of any specfic oil leak problems with the 2.2L engine. Oil leaks however, can happen with any engine and should check out as soon as they are noticed to prevent further damage. Tell us which seal was replaced and let's see if anyone else out there has had the same problem.

when the 2.2 engine was designed the factory head gasket did not completely cover a oil hole between the head and the engine block. This was a factory defect that should have been recalled. most people think it is a rear main leak or oil filter leak which may possibly be, but not likely. check to see if oil is running down from head onto ground. If so, replacing the head factory gasket with a new gasket which compensates for the defective factory gasket should fix the problem.

Bluevue, It is very uncommon anymore to repair an air conditioning compressor, even if it is just a seal leak. Please use the RepairPal estimator to find out the cost to replace the A/C compressor on your 2005 Saturn Vue, here is the link - http://repairpal.com/estimator.
