2001 Dodge Ram 1500 Q&A

2001 Dodge Ram 1500 Question: oil leak at water pump

Walked outside and heard the belt slipping and then beat up by the fan. Oil leaked out from water pump and on to belt, the bearing is bad but what caused the oil to come from here? -
Answer 1
Are you sure the oil is coming from the water pump area? The only place engine oil is present near the water pump is the timing cover gasket and crankshaft damper seal. . You may have an oil leak at the Transmission cooler lines, or Power Steering pressure hose and is being drawn up by the fan onto the belts and water pump. . -
