Can anyone please tell me where the oil filter is located in a 97 s420? thank you

    Most Mercedes have a canister filter on top of the engine. You may have to remove the plastic engine cover to see it. You need a special tool to remove it or you can break the canister cover, so be very careful!! Also be careful to replace the cartridge and the large O-ring gasket ( that comes in the filter kit ) Use a very high quality filter kit or you may regret it. Good Luck!

    it's located on the RH passanger side on the midlower side. If you stand by the RH fron tire you should be able to look down by the side of your moter and you will see the cover with a 1 bolt in the middle. open it and pull out the filter. make sure to chk your cover gaskets as well when you replace the filter
