How often do you need to change an oil filter for a 2002 Denali XL that has a mileage at 99546; is it normal to change the oil filter at 79,074 miles?

  Your truck has a computer that will indicate when an Oil Change is necessary; this is based on your driving conditions, and not on mileage. The GM Oil Life System may not indicate that an oil change is necessary for over a year. However your Engine Oil and Filter must be change at least once a year and the system must be reset.
