oil checking on 2004 Mazda RX-8

when cheking oil. condensation noted a white film around opening of oil cap and on dipstick

That's probably OK, try checking for the condensation when the engine hot right after a good run. I don't think you should see signs of water then. If you do, I'd want to check out the crankcase vintilation system to be sure it's clean and clear. I think the weather's been wet and cold in your parts so some condensation is fairly normal. If you see any signs of coolant, that's another story.

Be sure to check your owner's manual and use the correct engine oil. Mazda does not recommend using synthetic oil in the RX-8's rotary engine.
