Question

I had my oil changed by a car repair shop, and the indicator light is stating the same percent of oil as it did before it was changed. Always before when the oil has been changed we had to reset it. just wondering if he actually changed my oil!

Maybe he didn't actually reset the service reminder!!! You need to do it. Probaby just forgot, it happens.

OK, but always before when we changed the oil it automatically came up, this time it didn't. I could reset it myself but the message to reset never came up. I don't want to reset it if the oil didn't get changed. What I want to know is, when you change the oil, does the reset automatically come on!

I'm not an idiot!!! I read the manual, it doesn't say if it automatically comes on after every oil change. It does say it to be reset. I tried to reset it won't reset!!!!

The service reminder comes on to REMIND you that service is due, after a predetermined amount of miles! Then after the engine oil has been changed, it needs to be reset for the next go round. Then after that same amount of miles has gone by again, it will come on again, get oil changed again, then reset it again! Then.......so on!!! Nothing about the vehicle knows the oil has been changed until SOMEBODY resets the reminder!!!!
Youtube has a video on how to reset the service interval reminder thingy!! Just like it says to do in the manual.

Can you check the dipstick for fresh looking oil And if it's not a cartridge filter , can you see if the filter was changed? Did you ask the shop if maybe they were unaware of the reset procedure for that model?............Just thoughts...........

The oil looks clean, don't know about the filter. But my car doesn't ever use oil, and it never looks dirty!!
