How often should the oil be changed on a 2008 Toyota Corolla and does it require synthetic oil?

newer cars go 5000 between changes and synthetic is an option, not a requirement. Roy

I change my oil and filter every 3000-3500 but as Roy mentioned 5000 miles would be fine. I've used Castrol brand oil since the 80s and find it to be a very good oil. Synthetic oil is not needed just be sure to purchase a quality brand.

They said they'd know more next time I come in. I had the oil checked today (before an four-hour round trip), and the oil level was fine. I'm wondering what questions I should ask when I go in again.
The noise does die down when it's been on the road a while. Thank you.
