  use good oil, synthetics are best. when you replace the oil filter make sure the aluminum cover does not hit the alternator positive post. it should have a black cap on it, but they usually fall off.

  in my experience the 4.2l motors like the heavier 10W40 brews. synthetics may provide an economical advantage over the long haul - fewer changes.
