1995 Toyota 4Runner

Question: O/D flashes and check engine light is on

My speedometer/odometer cable broke a week ago and the next day my O/D light has started flashing and check engine light comes on once I reach freeway speeds. They stay on until I shut off the 4Runner then when I restart the car they stay off until I reach higher speeds and the lights come back on.

    Found out that flashing idiot light is telling you what the speedometer not moving is telling you. The speedometer cable either fell out of the transmission or broke.
