O & J Auto Service

I've been going to O & J for years, initially upon the recommendation of a friend whose family had all been taking their cars to O & J for years. They actually try to keep the cost of repairs down rather than trying to get as much $$ out of you as possible. They won't fix anything that doesn't need fixing, and they'll come up with cost effective ways to make repairs, especially if you've got an older car that isn't worth doing a lot of work on. Their work is high quality, it lasts, it's affordable, and you get same day service (unless your repair is unusually complicated). They explain what has to be done and why, and their estimates are very accurate - no surprises when you pick up your car. Only two negatives. First, they're open only 9-5 M-F, so you'll miss a bit of work dropping off and picking up your car if you work during standard business hours. Second, they're tough to get to using public transportation. There are bus lines that go by the shop, but they run infrequently (I once waited more than 45 minutes, then finally hailed a cab). You'll need a ride. However, given the fact that these guys are affordable, do good work, and are conscientious, it's worth these minor inconveniences.
