Are you in the process of selling your vehicle, or maybe purchasing a new one? It sounds like you might need information on transferring the title of the vehicle. Depending on what state you live in, this process can be simple, or a bit more work to complete correctly.

What is a Notary Public?

A Notary Public is a person who goes through special training and certifications to be recognized by the state government as a witness to the signing of documents. The witness' purpose is to prevent fraud. Notaries carry an official seal that shows a notary not only verified that the signature is real and of the signer, but also that the signature happened in front of their eyes.

Transferring a Car Title

Depending on what state you live in, you may need to have the car title notarized, which means you shouldn't sign the car title over until your signature is witnessed by a notary public. You can find if your state requires your car title to be notarized by visiting your state government's website.
