Question
From time to time when i turned off the truck it wouldn't start again for about fifteen minutes. Then, from time to time it wouldn't start in the morning leaving me no way to get to work. Now it won't start at all. It cranks over but it's like it's not getting fuel. I put a scanner on it and it read DTC codeP1000. I think this has to do with the engine control module but now what do i do?? I disconnected the negative side from the battery for 2 hours and cleared the code with the programmer but it showed up again. What should i do now??

I had the same problem with my 2002 F150 (5.4L) the last two months. I replaced the IAC valve before Xmas and have never had a problem since. My starting problems were identical to yours. So, I first replaced the battery with no success. Then, the dealer wanted to clean the fuel system. That helped for a week but the starting problems continued. After searching some of the Ford forums, everything pointed to the IAC. I'm 99% sure that's your problem. Also, I've have switched to a higher grade and/or brand of gasoline to prevent this in the future.
