1996 Chevrolet 1500 Pickup Question: not gettig fire

When you say no fire do you mean no spark? If so here is a dumb question - is the distributor shaft turning? Try cranking the engine with the cap off to see if the rotor is spinning. You may have a worn distributor gear - also make sure the rotor mounting plate is not turning on the shaft. Also, try checking for spark directly at the ignition coil.

manny6973, The crankshaft position sensor on your 1996 Chevrolet 1500 pickup is located on the underside of the engine, near the harmonic balancer.
