The car is running fine overall but none of the internal gauges work (Temp, Fuel, Speedometer, Odometer, Tach etc) . Oddly enough the check engine light is always on. On occasion the gauges come on and seem to work fine until I turn the car off. Overall the car seems to be running fine. Is this a known issue or has anyone else experienced this? I'm guessing that if I take this to the dealer it will cost more to fix it than the car is worth. Any recommendations?

The instrument panel, or in this case the Drivers Information Module, or DIM, may be having a problem. Try puling the fuse for the DIM, it's in the left side dash fusebox, and reinstall it. See if that helps. I suggest going to a Volvo Dealer and have them perform a complete software upgrade for this car. It can fix many little issues, and if you're lucky, it will fix this from happening. If not, you'll need to have the DIM checked out. Good Luck
