2000 Mitsubishi Galant Q&A

2000 Mitsubishi Galant Question: Noises

Hi, The car am looking to buy, has only 56k miles on it. and i wld b the 4th owner as per carfax. test drive showed me that the car actually gives good noise and creaking when i release or press the brakes. also when driving the car seems to have a low rumbling noise which i havent heard in other cars. if i drive fast and suddenly put brakes the car takes some time to halt. Any idea about the noises? is it the brakes or the engine ? Timing belt has not been replaced yet. -
Answer 1
None of the problems you describe should have anything to do with the timing belt, though if the belt has not been changed in 9 years, it's probably a good time to do that. The noises and problems braking are a definite concern, and I would highly recommend getting a technician to look at the car for you before purchasing it. You want to make sure that there is not a lot of repair work that needs to be done to make the brakes perfect. -
