I just bought this van. It had been sitting a while (maybe 6 mos). It has a loud clunking noise especially at idle and starting off. It has gotten worse in the last few days. It also seems as if the engine is missing. On the freeway it sort of lurches like a cylinder may be misfiring.I can't tell if it is engine or tranny.

It would be best to have your vehicle inspected by your local repair shop and perform a compression test to see if a cylinder is low on compression or bad ignition parts and if indeed you have a lower end noise in your engine. A compression test will tell you overall condition of internal engine components.
