Noise when turning. on 2002 Cadillac Escalade

For about a year now any time I use the air conditioner or the fan when I make a left or right turn there is a loud clunking noise on the drivers side. If I do not use either there is no sound. It only happens when I use it. Today I took the truck to get looked at and there is an issue with the sterring pump(a service message was posted by cadillac) and that it will need to be replaced. A lot of people are having the same issue.Does this tie in with the sound or is it something else?
