Porsche 968 Noise in manual transmission due to pinion bearing failure

Pinion bearing failure can cause noise in the manual transmission. A revised assembly procedure and components are required for repair.
started late 60,000's, now at 77,000 getting much louder. Scheduled to have it repaired soon (May 2013) -
Pinion bearing started to whine at about three (3) years ago @ 72,000 mi.; now at 77,000 it is significantly louder. Will probably get it fixed in early 2013 -
