To answer this question, I would need to know some more information. Is the tires in good shape? A separated tire could cause a thumping noise. Is the vehicle a 4x4? If so, which type? (All wheel drive or manual- Hi and low) A 4x4 system that is engaging by itself could cause this noise. At what speeds does the noise occur?

Tires are in good shape. Vehcle is all wheel drive 4 X 4. I tend to hear the noise at all speeds but notice it more at slower speeds as when exiting a highway ramp or taking a right hand turn,
