My buick will not start when I turn the key the security light comes on and stays on even after I remove the key. I have to disconnect the battery because the security light will stay on. I've tried new keys because starting was intermitant, sometimes when I would try and start the car before this no start condition I could turn the key the first time it would not start the secound time it would.

You have a bad ignition switch.

No start condition? I've heard it from others that the ignition switch is the problem, I disconneted the wiring harness at the connector under the dash for the ignition an noticed the bolt that fastens it was loose I also cleaned the connector with some electrical cleaner before I put everything back together and made sure it was tight this time, it started and I retried several times to start it and it did not fail, but like you said I don't know if the fix I just discribed was the problem if it fails to start again I'll have the switch replaced. Thanks

The true problem is at the switch where the two wires go into the switch itself. Because of the movement of the tilt steering column the wires break. It really isn't that hard to fix.

I had the same problem with mine and i sometimes still do. When mine wont start i have to hit lock-unlock-lock-unlock on the key fob. This will reset the system and allow the car to start.
