Question: no power when in drive

car has no power when drive gear is ingauged also when shifting from park to reverse the shift indicator light on the dash will go out but the drive light indicator is still on even when in park or reverse does anyone no what the problem is can you help

  It could be an issue with your gear selector switch. The fact that the "D" light stays on when in Park or Revers indicates to me that the shift lever is not moving the gear selector switch. This is what I would inspect first and foremost. It could be a linkage issue with your shift lever or the gear switch self etc.
