Question: no heat in 740i bmw

I have no heat ---could it be thermostat or something else I can check.

    Check your coolant level, make sure that it is full, it needs to be. First thing to check are the upper and lower radiator hose when the car is warmed up, are they both hot, too hot to touch? ( turn OFF the engine before doing this, so you don't place your hands near a running engine ). Does the temp gauge get in to the middle of the range, when the engine is warmed up, because it should.
    If the coolant is full and the hoses are not hot, then yes a thermostat is probably in order.
