Start checking fuses first.
I know this is an old question, but, I just had this happen to my Passat. It seemed that I needed a new wire (hose) that connected from the battery to the grounding plate. The mechanic said there was a slight tear in the wire/hose causing my car to not have any electric. It was a quick fix, cost about $30 with labor.
