Grey wire at the stereo should carries dash light power to the stereo. Check the instrument panel fuse box fuse marked INST LTS 10 Amp.

after market radio has orange wire do not use it. it will blow fuse for dash and tail lights. you don't need to use it only for older cars. my 2003 tacoma didn't need it now all is fine.

i was going to put an after marked stereo in my 03 malibu but i found out if i didn't get this part for $150 that it would mess up my lights and wat not... you need that part for '97-'04 malibus... which kinda sucks

well when i installed mine i hooked all the wires and lost my tailghts and dash lights. i went to pro radio shop and they asked if i connected the orange wire. they said don't use it so i did that and replaced fuse under hood - the fuses inside were all good. now all is fine. good luck!!!!!!!!!!
