Grey wire at the stereo should carries dash light power to the stereo. Check the instrument panel fuse box fuse marked INST LTS 10 Amp.

after market radio has orange wire do not use it. it will blow fuse for dash and tail lights. you don't need to use it only for older cars. my 2003 tacoma didn't need it now all is fine.

i was going to put an after marked stereo in my 03 malibu but i found out if i didn't get this part for $150 that it would mess up my lights and wat not... you need that part for '97-'04 malibus... which kinda sucks

well when i installed mine i hooked all the wires and lost my tailghts and dash lights. i went to pro radio shop and they asked if i connected the orange wire. they said don't use it so i did that and replaced fuse under hood - the fuses inside were all good. now all is fine. good luck!!!!!!!!!!

Is there like a Video with steps on how to get the wires done right? I'm thinking on doing myself instead of taking it (2003 Malibu) to the shop.

The grey and brown wire that you just stuck in the back i am assuming like me, connec connect them! That is all you have to do. I feel like an idiot now. But it is the solution. Hope this helps other malibu owners!

Do you have any idea what would cause the lights in the dash and radio to cut off and on? It runs just fine, it's just that when I'm driving, the lights in the dash will get real bright then it wil...
