Question: No brake lights and won't come out of park
Question
The gear shifter won't come out of park and I don't have any brake lights. I checked the fuse that controls the interlock brake system with a test light and no light with key off, but lights with key on. Is this the promblem?

JourneymanProbably the stop light switch http://partimages.genpt.com/largeimages/276144.jpg available at any good auto parts store as it controls the brake lights and shift interlock and is located at the upper back of your brake pedal $28 to $70 depending on 2 wheel drive or 4 wheel drive or locate a shop near you here www.repairpal.com/directory

MasterDon't forget to check the wiring connector at the switch, as it can be damaged too.

TechnicianWe just did a Lincoln with the same problem,It was a bad brake light switch and updated brake switch harness.
