Gear Shift Indicator May Display Incorrect Position

Vehicles equipped with a column mounted gear shift lever are being recalled because the shift indicator could indicate the wrong gear position. This is because the gear selector plate lock clip may have been installed incorrectly and will not hold its position due to normal road vibration. If the display is incorrect, the operator may think the vehicle is secured in Park when it is not. As a result the vehicle could roll unexpectedly, increasing the risk of personal injury or a crash. Nissan dealers will check and correct the installation of the transmission lever gear selector plate lock clip to correct this concern.

Vehicle Shift Lever Moves Out Of Park Without Brake Pedal Depressed

The brake shift interlock function may fail, allowing the transmission shift lever mounted on the steering column to be able to be moved from the park position without depressing the brake pedal. Dealers will remedy the vehicles free of charge.

Potential Engine Oil Leak

Some of the bolts that attach the engine oil cooler and filter to the engine may have been manufactured below specification strength. As a result, the bolt may break at the oil filter attachment point, which can cause an engine oil leak. Loss of too much engine oil can result in loss of oil pressure and the engine could seize, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will replace the connector bolts to correct this concern.
