2.4L w/dual cams, car started leaking iol between cylinder head and engine block in the rear at driver side corner,.. was told by x-owner he changed engine, but i believe he replaced the cylinder head only , is it possible if he replaced cyl.head w/newer type head that this could be the cause of the oil leak?. p.s car has great compression,...

MasterDodge have a technical service bulletin about them having changed from a composite type head gasket to a multi layer steel gasket. I wonder if this was the up grade? The bulletin outlines the precautions to take when replacing the head gasket and using a multi layer steel gasket. If proper cleaning procedures were not followed it could result in an oil leak.
