2003 Acura TL

Question: New Transmission; poor gas mileage

Question

Have had a new (rebuilt) transmission and computer installed in 2003 TL - since then, mileage has dropped from 28-31 highway, 24-26 in town to about 19.
A mechanic friend suggested that the computer ROM needs to be rebooted and/or modified to match the effects of the new Torque Converter. 1) Does this make sense? 2) What should this cost?
I really like this car!

I wonder what the long/short term fuel trim figure are reading on a scan tool , to see if the fuel injection system is adding fuel. Scantool information regarding O2 Sensor voltage, coolant temperature and air flow into the engine also have a big affect on fuel consumption. Some cars do require computer recalibration. Look on a web forum called Acurazine.
