2004 Mercedes-Benz S500 Question: new rear brakes and rotors

Mercedes-Benz vehicles are very technologically sophisticated automobiles. Even something as simple a brake change requires a diagnostic scan tool. The BAS/ABS system needs to be disabled to perform a brake service on the vehicle. This is recommended not only to prevent faults in the systems, but also potential injury to the technician and damage to components. I recommend having a professional do this service for you.
