If it won't start you are right to start with the basics and recheck everything. Make sure no key sensor is unplugged. After checking the cam timing check that the engine turns over by hand freely by hand wit the spark plugs out (with the plugs out check the compression to see it is even). After that verify spark and fuel.
It's hard to explain cam timing procedures without illustrations
Autozone have some popular workshop manuals for free on line once you register (for free) on their website http://bit.ly/autozone_repair_info. There is also a company that independent auto repair shops buy their information from that the same information inexpensively to do it yourselfers. Hey greg thanks for the web addresses. I guess my problem is i never removed the timing
cover, i mean why would you when replkacing a head gasket. So when i reinstalled the chain i used tdc for the crank and 3oclock position for the cam sprocked mark. After looking at the photos on azone i see the chain has marks, why that matters i'm not sure. So now when i align the chain to 3oclock the crank is not on tdc , and i can't see the lower sprocket
position. whats a guy to do.
