My car won't start check engine light is on it's making a knocking should I called a mechanic he said it would cost me 1700 for parts and labor what should I do and the engine has 50,000 miles on it is it worth it or should I just get another car had it for 2years.

MasterWhat is the trouble code stored in memory? How much oil is in the engine? If the oil level or pressure is low on engines that have variable valve timing, the check engine light can come on. It might have a bad main or rod bearing but it's impossible to say without a diagnosis. Has anyone looked at the car yet?

Visitor, May 25, 2010, 04:48Replyyour engine dropped a valve seat! these are known to do that! 1700 is a very fair price for a new engine! I think i would try to find one with a bit less mileage! It will be worth the extra $$
