It is necessary to change the front and rear axle fluid every 15,000 miles on my 2007 Dodge Ram 3500?

    My book shows to replace front and rear axle every 15,000 miles and usually there's a tag on the differential cover that tells you what fluid to use positraction or regular.

    Thanks. That's what my book says too. I guess the question should have been WHY is it necessary to change the front and rear axle fluid every 15,000 miles? It seems excessive and the dealership wants to charge from $159 - $175 per axle, which is over double of what the local oil change place charges.

    I always have my Diesel Dodge done at Chevron oil stop and I think it was $89 for synthetic
