Question: Navigation/Stereo went dead

Question

Visitor, Oceanside, CA, April 20, 2010, 23:17

Today while driving down the freeway my Navigation/Stereo (stock Bose system) went dead. I brought it to the dealership and they confirmed it wasn't the fuse. The GMC dealership apparently doesn't fix stereos, they will only replace it. ($1500 +Labor!) I had complained several times of my radio changing stations randomly when I turn the steering wheel and they always came back with "could not duplicate problem", now that it's past 100,000 miles, something shorted out and it went dead!
Has anyone else experienced their stock navigation/stereo going dead? Any input on getting it fixed vs.replacing it? Thank you!

I had mine replaced 3 times until I finally had enough and went with an aftermarket headunit with Nav. I would suggest doing that because the speakers actually came alive as well!
