Question: My wifes car has a thumping noise when applying the brakes?

The car only has 7000 miles on it. How can the brake pads be bad? How can rotors be bad? Can the rotors be machined but keep the pads if they are fine?

    ON THESE CARS WE REC PADS ROTORS AND SENSORS BE REPLACED EVERY BRAKE JOB, ITS THE NATURE OF THE BEAST.SORRY
