1998 Toyota Camry Q&A

1998 Toyota Camry Question: My toyota was leaking oil under the right front tire, was told its the main

engine seal leak. Also was told it will cost $1500 to repair. I have been putting 1/2 gt a day to keep the level up. I am not sure if its the seal or someting else. If its the main seal, is it worth to fix it? its a '98 Camry and has 160,000 miles on it. thanks. -
Answer 1
Does that price include all timing componets and water pump along with full reseal? Need to know what the quote involved exactly. 'Complete' reseal and timing KIT? -
Answer 2
Oil pump seal (o-ring type)is probably puking , if the oil is close to the right wheel. IF it was the rear main seal , it should be puddling under the middle. $1500.00 is way to much for timing and front engine re-seal. Should be more in the $500.00-$800.00 range , depending on quality of parts used and the labor rate at the shop you use. -
