2002 Dodge Neon

 

Question: My Neon rpms rev to 5000 when I start it. It accelerates on its own.

I just had a transmission replaced approximately 2 months ago. The car does not stop easily and revs very loud when I stop. Its like I am pushing the gas when in park. I started to putter and almost didn't make it home.

    It sounds like you have a vacuum leak on your engine intake system. This could be as simple as a hose that has come off the nipple or a cracked or broken hose. A qualified technician should be able to verify this easily.
