Question: My father is claiming that it is a valve cover gasket leak?

 Rookie

If the valve cover was indeed leaking, wouldn't it be external? Again thank you for your assistance on this matter.

    valve cover gaskets normally leak externally, ck again it may just look like a v/c gasket but it could be eng blowby caused by malfunctioning pcv system

    yes it would be if there is oil running down the valve cover then it could be leaking
