Question: My check light went on; car hesitated then lunged forward.

I was in a parking lot I turned on the engine and the car hesitated then lunged forward. The check light went on. it was towed. Dealer: accelerator sensor needs replacement and my battery is weak. I had it servised 60,000 miles 2 months ago.

MasterDid they mean throttle position sensor (TPS) ? A bad TPS will cause a hesitation on gentle acceleration and may effect "fuel cut" which in turn effects fuel economy. If it is the original Lexus battery which it very may well be it is 8 years old and is due replacement. Most batteries last about 3 to 5 years I have seen many original Lexus batteries last 8 years.
