Question: my catalytic converter lightis on

 Rookie

I was tokd that as long as it is not flashing it is safe to drive and it will not harm the engine. Is that correct, as I am trying to get an appointment.

    The check engine light is on because something in your vehicles emissions system is not in proper operating condition.don't know how bad 'til it's diagnosed. The 'flashing' light just means converter damage is highly likely if driven.On solid is anybodys guess until properly diagnosed.
