My car will start but will not shift into gear? on 2003 Ford Taurus

This is the first time this has happened; I have not had any problems with the car before shifting into gear.

First - check your transmission fluid. Check for proper level and condition. If all that is correct and in good shape, a test will need to be done to find out if the digital transmission range sensor is selecting the gears you are selecting. This could be a cause of not getting into gear. However...it could go further and be an internal transmission problem. Step by step diagnosis is required. Good luck.
