Question: My Car will shut off when stopping at red light or idling at stop sign.... WHY?

I have a 2006 Ford escape that seems to shuts down when I stop at a red light or any stop sign. I believe its the idling of the car when it does this. I simply restarted the car back again and drive off and it seems to drive fine afterwards.

    restarting the engine "reboots" the engine control module in many cars. you did not mention that your check engine light is on, which is an important piece of information that you omitted. find out what codes are
    stored in the system, then you can find out what's going on.

    the engine light doesnt come up because every thing shuts down completely when i come to red light and car sits idle for a couple of seconds. I have to put the car back in park and turn the ignition once again to restart the engine again. then everything works like normal... I notice when i slow down for curves or turns that if i press the gas pedal - RPMS rev alittle bit higher than normal before coming back down. WHATS THIS ?

    go to your closest Auto Zone (or similar) that will scan for
    trouble codes for free. then post the codes here.

    I have the same car and yar and the exact same thing is happening...I've taken it to AutoZone:nothing, 2 other local mechanics:nothing finally I took it to the local Ford dealer:baffled! They even kept it overnight because they couldn't figure it out. If you've fixed yours or can tell me what was I'd greatly appreciate it! Thanks!!
