Question: my car will not heat at idle. only at higher rmps

the engine temp is fine but it will not heat at idle. only when driving at highway speeds will there be hot air from the vents.

    Where does the temperature gauge read when the engine has warmed up and you are driving on the freeway? It should be in the middle of the gauge. I suspect the cooling system thermostat is stuck open, not a major repair or not a costly or complicated repair.
