Question: My car only has 56,000 miles on it but seems to be consuming a lot of oil.

There is no noticable leakage or any colored smoke coming from the exhaust. The car has had all of its scheduled maintainence checks. It is burning about a quart for every 500 miles.

    Yeah that's low miles for that car. Maybe something serious but what weight of oil you use? Put piece of cardboard under car at night and see if you have a leak that your weren't noticing before. If so look carefully above where leak is.
