RPM's Sputterd and engine felt jerky. when I parked the car and tried mash the pedal it would not even rev and a yellow wrench symbol appeared on dash. I turned the car off checked oil and transmission fluid they were ok. I let the car sit for about 10 minutes started it up and drove home. No engine light on and made back with no problems. Could this be a fuel pump? Car has just hit 40,000 miles.

My car is doing the same. It has been happening randomly, about 8 times this month. I took it to the dealer for a diagnostic and they came back with no issue since the car did not the the wrench light sensor on. So now I am scared to drive my car, fearing it will just shut down.

I had this issue 4 times in 2 days. All times, the transmission light came on, then went off after I let the car sit and turned it back on. The 4th time, when I cut the car back on, the check engine light was on and wouldn't go off. Had it towed to the nearest dealer this morning. They said its the electronic throttle body that has gone bad and needs replacing. About $500 for part, service, and diagnostics. My mileage is just at 40k and it's a 2010. The 5 yr 60k warranty does NOT cover this and the extended warranty I purchased from Ford when I bought the car in June last year doesn't cover this. If you are fortunate to experience this while still under the 36k miles on the car, take it in to ford. Unfortunately, this problem didn't arise on my Milan until 4k miles out of the basic warranty coverage. Good luck.
