Question: my car failed smog twice with the same problem, high NO (x) what can the problem

Tried vacuum hoses and EGR, intake manifold hose from air filter to intake is cracked, could that affect car not passing smog?

    If your cracked hose has the crack after the mas air flow meter, it could be associated with the problem. Other things that contribute to NOx failure are: An overheated engine, lean air/fuel mixture, vacuum leaks, over-advanced timing, defective EGR system and/or carbon deposits on intake valves.

    this vehicle does not use a mass air flow sensor.

    there is an electronic vacuum switching valve (VSV) for the EGR valve. it is located under the intake manifold on the back side of the engine. can be accessed from under the car. this usually sticks and may need to be replaced.
