Make sure is in park real good, if still has problem then try starting in neutral, if starts then prob is related to neutral safety switch. If still have problem suspect starter problem, will need to check for power to starter and see if is problem.

Well now my recommendation changes. You said you replaced the battery but made it sound like would still not turn over. Your repost says it cranks/spins but will not start. That is a different animal. Very important to know when you say will not start whether it cranks and will not start. If cranks then neutral safety switch and starter are doing their jobs. Does have to spin fast enough to start so could still be failing starter. If cranks ok then you have typically a spark/fuel delivery problem.

One spark plug fouling/buildup/corrosion/erosion will not cause a no start condition.

Well now you need to find out if has correct fuel pressure and volume, also does it have spark to the plugs, is it in time, etc. May need to have a tech at shop check all this for you.

Thats major. You should be able to reuse the tune parts on the new engine. How was it that you come to find out the block is cracked. Or does the head have a crack? If just head the block is likely ok so would be less expensive to fix unless maybe you are going to drop in a used engine.
