Question: My 97 Monte Carlo steering wheel has been locking up as if the key is turned off

3 times in the past few weeks,while turning a ben my steering wheel locks like when the car is turned off, what could cause this to happen.

    Better have this looked at befor you get in a place where you have to make
    a turn and can't!!! In other words immediately. Poss.steering rack,pump,belt ect,

    the last time it happend the belt made a sqeal noise but its not that old.
