Is there a place to lubricate the column and with what? I have tolerated this for about 5,000 miles. Summer or winter, the same squealing. No noticeable change in steering pressure required. The slower the car speed the more pronounced the squealing.

If it sounds like its inside the car it may be the steering rod. I had this problem especially in winter. Underneath the driver side carpet there is a socket that the steering rod goes into. Sprayed some silicon lubricant on it and the noise hasn't come back.
